While I was plenty busy with weddings and brides this summer, I did find time to go out and take some pictures with a friend of mine. Katrine is a born and bred New Yorker. She was born in the Bronx and I met her while I was at school at Hallmark Institute of Photography out in Mass. We hit it off right away and were always together at school. She came and visited and I decided to show her as much of North Dakota as possible. She had never been to the midwest AT ALL. Talk about culture shock!! We went out to the country (like 10 minutes north of Fargo!) and took some fun pictures with some hay bales.

I also brought her to a rodeo. I’m a city girl through and through but I do love me a rodeo every now and then. I’m not sure why I love them so much but I do. I haven’t even gone through those pictures yet so I might do that this weekend and post them up here.
Also I just wanted to remind everyone about the discount I’m offering right now. 10% off any wedding package booked by February 29th, 2008. For more details check out this post.

I’m doing a wedding show in January and am going to make a 18×24 or 20×24 gallery wrap. Gallery wraps are pictures printed on canvas and stretched over wood frames. They are really beautiful and I want to showcase a nice photo on it. Here are some options that I was thinking of using. Which one catches your eye?

Deal or No Deal,
Minneapolis |

I went down to Minneapolis on Friday night to stay with some friends. I had somewhere to be the next day at 6:30am. I was going to audition for the tv show Deal or No Deal. Yup…I went to the cities for that. It’s quite nerdy but I thought, why not?? What can it hurt? And if anything it’s an amusing story to tell.
They were holding auditions at…wait for it….a Toyota dealership. Totally random. I got there at around 6:45am. It said online that people wouldn’t be able to start lining up until 7am and that the wait would be outside. Thankfully I got there in time that I could wait inside. It was -10 when I got there! We started off in a huge room full of people. I finally got to the front of the line. We walked into the next room only to find that it was just another room full of people waiting.
Below is the picture of the next room I walked into FULL of people. More waiting….

My reaction to the room full of people. Apparently by the time I got to audition, 1500 people had already gone through!
So basically the audition is the shortest thing ever. Once you get past the 4 big rooms full of people you are split up into groups of 10 people. You go up to a table where there is someone sitting from the show who is probably just an intern. They say “Go” and you have 20 seconds to tell them about yourself. You give them your application and then you leave. That’s it. One guy from the show said that the woman who was on the show on Friday went to one of these things 2 YEARS ago. Yup…2 YEARS. And you just never know how you actually did. So it was interesting. My 20 seconds came at around 9:30am. My turn was after a woman who was the single mother of 4 and another woman who was a 2-year survivor of breast cancer and whose husband was just diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Suddenly my student loans seemed so stupid. Oh well. As I left I was shocked to see the amount of people waiting OUTSIDE. That means that all 4 huge rooms inside were full and there were still people waiting outside. It was -7 by this time and people had kids out there and everything. It was nuts.

And around the corner….

There were about 4,000 people there. It was crazy. So while I will probably never be on the show it was quite interesting to do something like this. Kinda fun…..saw and met some truly crazy people….and can now say I tried out for a major television show. All in all an interesting weekend!!

On Saturday we had a huge snow storm and were hit with something like 9 inches of snow. On Sunday I photographed Lindsey and Matt for their Christmas card. It was freezing and we were standing in many inches of snow most of the time but we got some great images so it was well worth it! Here are a few…..
